8. City Centre of Munich
It was great as I found some free tour to bring me walk around the city centre of Munich.haha actually you only need give the tour guide some tips.
Marienplatz
New Town Hall
The square was dominated by the New Town Hall. The monumental, 79 meters (259ft) high town hall was built between 1867 and 1909 by Georg Joseph Hauberrisser in Flemish Gothic style to alleviate the overcrowded Altes Rathaus nearby. It used for office using.
Peterskirche
It was known as “Old Peter”, St. Peter’s Church is the oldest in the city of Munich. Built in 1180, the church had a turbulent and interesting past but was still a favorite tourist attraction and was fondly admired by locals as well. And most of the parts were damaging during the WW2.
Frauenkirche
It was the landmark for Munich which features on most of Munich's postcards: the Frauenkirche or Church of Our Lady.
Contrary to a widespread legend that says the two towers with their characteristic hood is exactly one meter in height are different, they are almost equal: the north tower is 98.57 metres (323 feet), the south tower, on the other hand, is only 98.45 metres (323 feet).
Have you see the difference of the two towers?
Top view from the tower.
Then inside the church of the 2 tower there was the 'footprint of the devil'. According to the legend, the architect of the
Frauenkirche, Jörg von Halsbach, promised the devil you could not see a window from the inside of the church. In return, the devil would help him build the Frauenkirche.
After he completed the building, the architect led the devil to the middle of the church from where you could not see a single window, although all churchgoers would sit in an area where a lot of light came through the windows. The devil would have stamped his foot with so much rage that his footprint was visible in the stone floor.
Haha do you believe it?
