Week 11 at Bochum

Life at Bochum:

This week was a “Problem week” for me, firstly was my laptop.

Anyone know the reason?

I think my laptop was too old for run some heavy duties therefore it appears blue screen. I had no chooses to reformatted it.

Secondly was my rented contract, as my contract was only till end of July, but I will leave at 16 of Aug. So I need to go and find the person in-charge to extend the contract, unfortunately I went on the wrong day as the person was sick, I need to go there again at next week Monday.

P.S: even I have extended the contract I still need to move out by 14 of Aug, as 15 was a Sat. So I need to find a place for me to sleep 2 nights.

Thirdly was my internet. I couldn’t login to my internet as they blocked it, and it happened at Friday afternoon, so I only can go and find the staff on Monday. OMG I need to live without connecting to the world for my weekend. (It reminded me when I was just reach Germany, I had live without internet for 5 days) Now the history was repeating.

P.S: Therefore I couldn’t post my weekly report on time.

“Probem” → “Problem solving”, I hoped next week will be my “solution” week to solve all my problems.

Of course that was not end of my week, This week I had went Bochum Hbf to try a very famous pizza.(according to Niko’s information). It was located at one of the Hbf streets, it was a food street with all different kinds of food.

Learn from Alex, this was a new way to cook the eagg-egg pisa, maybe he get the from the Italy trip. However it was a delicious and simple dish.

Haha I was too hungry, so I had bitten before I took the photo.

Ya this week one of my team member Schierling had keep on told me his fav movie-Van Damme, and his fav actor-Eddy Lomax. However I didn’t know anything about this movie and this guy.

Maybe I will go and find out at my free time.

And the most important thing in this week was that the show of “Transformer 2”, that was one of the best shows in year 2009. Unfortunately I hadn’t watch yet, that was the movie showed in Germany was all in German. SAD……….

Study at Bochum:

For my project part, I didn’t have special task to do as the whole team was rushing to finish the last stage of the new car-BO cruiser. Therefore I had done a lot of grinding works to complete the last part and to have a nice finishing.

Grinded with sand paper and follow by checked the surface. (As when you were sanding he surface, you also needed to check it always in straight line, so it was not so easy)

We also went to the painting shop where helped us to paint the car body.

It was one of our car sponsors.

At the weekend I had went Köln for a solar film events, it was host by our old car sponsor- Solar World Company, as they were filming an advertisement about the solar technology. It was a at Köln FC training place.

It was my first time I saw our solar car under the sun. haha like what they said everyday was sun day, sun at work.

The hero of the advertisement was the famous German football player-Lukas Podolski. He was a good and young forward who had just joined back FC Köln.

Even thought he was not my fav player, but it was my first time to see a star player in the real life and I felt so excited. Without doubt I had get his signature, suddenly I felt I was like a small fan. haha it was a great experience

When we were waiting, I was too tired to fall sleep.

As what I had mentioned our project was in the final stage, the mechanical team was try to fix the car suspension on the new car.

All these items were cost about 3000€. They were all made by the mixture of aluminum, magnesium, copper and etc, and it was strong enough to support up to 2000kg.

I was helping our new team leader Julian to fix on the suppension.

And for the electrical team they had started to make the connecters for the new solar cells.

I also had to help to make the motor cover.

Used the sand to grind some parts of the motor cover, so the magnets were easily to paste on it.

Used the machine to put the moving ring into the motor cover.

Alex was doing that.

At the same time the batteries box was almost ready

Oh ya I was almost forget something, Alex and me were mading a new motor testing bench, it will bring to Australia for the motor testing before the competition.

We used the aluminum to build the body and we will modify it in next week.

Haha show you something, was that means engineer=smoker?haha

This was my 11^th week at Bochum, due to the internet problem I had post the report a bit late, sorry about it. Ya time was so fast, 7 more weeks left. However I wanted to say that it was a great trip and now the project was coming to the final stage, so I hope I could spend rest of my time well on the project as well on the Europe life. By the way I still left few place to travel: Berlin, Köln, Düsseldorf, Paris, so hope you all will continue to reading my blog and enjoy it. OMG I forget something, school was restarted this week, all my friends had finish their sweet holidays and back to study. Therefore I wish everyone enjoy at school. See you!
