Week 8 at Bochum Part5

Fifth station: Venice

Venice was a city in northern Italy, the capital of the region Veneto, a population of 271,367.

Venice was a beautiful city and its construction in the most unlikely places built cities – water.

Did you know Venice well? Now let me bring you to Venice.

There were few symbols for Venice:

1. Canal

Venice was world-famous for its canals. It was built on an archipelago of 118 islands formed by about 150 canals.

2. Bridge

As there were many canals, we need to have bridges to connect it. Therefore there were many bridges in the city.

3. Water Taxi

Haha don’t get misunderstand, in Venice the “taxi” was the boat. As the whole city was surround by water, so the best transport was boat. However it was not cheap to take the boat, from what I knew it was more expensive than normal taxi.

4. Building

The reason we called it “Water Venice” was that all the building were surround by water, even the coffee bar. Do you want to try it?

5. Piazza San Marco

+

+

I think a lot of people should know this place-Piazza San Marco. That was because Jay Chou. Haha did you watch Jay Chou’s MV, his album “十一月的肖邦”(November Chopin) had two songs’ MV “黑色毛衣”(Black sweater) and “四面楚歌”(Embattled) were taking from here.(you can go youtube to watch it).

Piazza San Marco had Saint Mark’s square and Mark Church. It was the most famous scenic spots and historical sites. Saint Mark’s square was more than 170 long, 135 meters wide, west area of about 10,000 square meters, form a ladder shape.

Am I look like a paparazzi?

6. Gondola

The gondola was a traditional Venetian rowing boat. Gondolas were for centuries the chief means of transportation within Venice and still have a role in public transport, serving as ferries over the Grand Canal. Their primary role was to carry tourists on rides of the whole city.

Where was my Gondola?

Ya they were coming.

Finally we were on Gondola.

7. Venice masks and earring

+

Venice had Venice Carnival every year, so marks and earring were very popular at here. And the design of the marks and earring was quite special.

P.S: Please don’t see the person just focus on the earring.

8. Venice Glass

Venice Glass were very special, it was totally made by man power. They put the glass in very high temperature, after that they blew it and cut in different shape.

He was making a glass vase.

9. Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia

A kind of nood with black colour, it tasted nice. How was it, K?
